Angel Tattoos and Their Meaning

Angel tattoos are very beautiful and popular among both men and women.  They often have powerful meanings.  These tattoos are extremely versatile in that they offer several different types, designs, and placement options on the body.  Contrary to popular belief, angels are not just religious in nature, although that is the most common design.  They may symbolize religion, a loved one lost, innocence, protection, and guidance.  They may even serve to pay homage to fallen angels, or those who have fallen out of God’s favor.  Men and women love that there are so many designs and meaning to choose from.

Messengers of God
Angels are known as messengers of God.  In fact, angels are believed to possess special power, talents, and skills to aid in the delivery of God’s message to His children.  They are capable of traveling back and forth between Heaven and earth.  Many people choose angel tattoos for this reason as they believe the tattoos are symbolic of God’s good nature.  These tattoos serve as a reminder for those people that angels are among us each day, delivering God’s message in a variety of ways.  These tattoos are often attributed with specific religious beliefs ranging from Christianity to Islam and more.

Guardians
Probably the most common representation associated with angel tattoos is the fact that angels are known as guardians.  People often prefer to ink themselves with an angel that represents a Guardian Angel; an angel that constantly watches guard over the people, protecting them from all that is bad and evil.  These angels are believed to be present in our lives from birth to death and even into the afterlife.  These tattoos may depict either male or female angels.  The wings of the angel may be wrapped in a loving embrace, symbolizing their ability to act as guards.

Fallen Angels
Second in line to Guardian Angels are angel tattoos representing Fallen Angels.  These angels are among those who have fallen from God’s grace in response to evil deeds and behaviors that they carried out while in heaven.  These tattoos are often a representation of pain, suffering, and sadness.  Once an angel is made to leave heaven, they are never allowed to return.  These angels may be inked with broken or tattered wings; anything that depicts shame, pain, or suffering of any kind.  Additionally, these angels often appear darker and much less innocent than traditional angels.

Other Tattoo Types
In addition to some of the most popular angel tattoos already discussed, many people choose to have the wings of an angel tattooed on their body along with the dates of a loved one lost.  Of course, there are less innocent and symbolic tattoos that feature a somewhat sexier version of an angel.  Of course, there are also tattoos that depict a fierce angel holding a weapon of some kind, usually a sword.

Another popular choice is a tattoo of an angel battling with a demon in order to depict the dichotomy that consistently exists between the presence of heaven and hell.
